Supima high-gloss cotton is an extraordinarily supple, fine-quality cotton woven from fibers of the Gossypium barbadense variety of cotton. This species of the cotton plant and the Supima fabric in particular is especially prized, due to its Extra Long Staple (ELS) with Supima accounting for less than 1% of the cotton grown around the world.
The extra-long staple fiber of Supima gives the cotton its premium properties: strength, softness and color retention --- Supima is twice as strong as regular cotton, which makes for resilient and longer-lasting products. Supima’s finer fibers also absorb dye better with a deeper, long-lasting penetration, and the additional length of the fiber makes for a smoother surface, producing a softer fabric that resists pilling.
This means that Supima fabric keeps its brilliance wash after wash, decade after decade, giving a life-time of use.
